Course Affiliation

MBA Programme is under Biju Pattnaik University of Technology, Odisha,
Rourkela is of two years duration. Each year shall be divided into two semesters. First and Third semester shall ordinarily begin in July and end in December. Second and fourth Semester shall begin in January and end in April.

Course Objective

  • The mission of the RIMS is to prepare students for a productive and socially responsible career personally and professionally.
  • The objective is to design and develop innovative, insightful and impactful ideas at the interface of business, industry, society, and technology.
  • To develop a balanced blend of current market requirements into teaching pedagogy that advances current knowledge within our academic discipline to meet the market challenges.
  • Provides high-quality degree programs that feature innovative teaching methods and technologies that emphasize practical orientation making students Industry ready.
  • Creates a stimulating working and learning environment by actively promoting interaction between the School and corporate and by engaging students and all other stakeholders in the development of the School.
  • To enable students to understand the socio-economic, technological, ecological and political environment of India and the globe.
  • To equip students with required conceptual and interpersonal skills for managerial decision making in structured/unstructured environments.
  • To develop socially responsible and ethical business leadership capabilities who can perform without compromising integrity, honesty and fairness.

Course Pedagogy

  • The pedagogy at RIMS for MBA Course focuses on both conceptual knowledge and case studies being the predominant method. Apart from that, group and individual projects, student presentations, simulation exercises, business games, Seminars, field visits, etc. are used. In MBA Course we bring in industry experts to integrate classroom learning with industry practice, where industry people share their practical knowledge and explain the process to minimize the gap.
  • A majority of the classes are based on discussions around a specific topic assigned for each class. Before the start of each term, students are given the material for each class and are expected to read all the material before the class and have a preliminary discussion in their peer groups. This is implemented in hybrid mode depending upon the requirements and situations.
  • During the discussion in class, it is expected that students will participate and make a significant contribution. The faculty monitors the students' contributions to the discussion and ensures equitable distribution of opportunity for all students to participate over the duration of the course.
  • We mix different type of technology for various lectures throughout the session and the students participate and contribute during the lectures.

Admission Policy

Eligibility: The eligibility for admission to MBA Programme of the University shall be same as the one decided by AICTE from time to time.[the minimum Qualification for admission is any graduates from UGC-approved Indian universities with 50% marks in aggregate (or Hons) [45% in case of candidate belonging to SC/ST category].

Entrance Examination: Candidate aspiring for admission into MBA Course, must have qualified in any one of the following entrance examination : CAT/MAT/XAT/C-MAT/ATMA/OJEE.

Selection Process: Group Discussion & Personal Interview/OJEE Counseling.

Course Assessment

RIMS follow the academic regulations of its affiliating University. As per the course curriculum, MBA degree is of 103 credits. Each theory paper carries 150 marks out of which University conducts End Term semester examination of 100 marks and the institute conducts 50 marks as Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA). The CIA process is conducted as per the following format:-

  1. Class Test-I- 15 Marks
  2. Class Test-II-15 Marks
  3. Assignment/Presentation- 10 Marks
  4. Quiz-10 Marks
